For the last century, Qingdao has been an important port city characterized by openness, famous brands, tourism and ocean science. It is also economic center and the birthplace of sailing sports of China. The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games have chosen Qingdao as a co-host city, adding resonance to the dynamic, young municipality.
08-09 Volvo Ocean Race Qingdao Stopover is hosted by Qingdao Government and organized by Qingdao City Construction Investment Group. Being the first global top-leveled professional sailing event after the Olympics and Paralympics Sailing Games hosted in Qingdao, this event ranks top in the national sport event calendar. Qingdao people are proud of being the host of Volvo Ocean Race, and the city has done abundant work to make this event satisfactory.
We sincerely hope this race will help bring us together as friends, bringing good luck to all of you and fulfilling all of your greatest dreams.

The Media Center, which is the main working area for the media, is located at the southern part of the Olympic Sailing Center. There are media work room, press conference room, media reception desk and media cafeteria in it

(The Open Period might be postponed on the day of fleet arrival.)
The Layout of Media Center

Media Workroom
Media Workroom is located on the second floor of Media Center equipped with 100 work positions, power, Fax, Printer, Bulletin Board and lockers. Free beverage is available for media.
Notice:
1.The work positions are available on the principle of “first come first served ”;
2.No smoking and noise;
3.Questions are welcome at media reception desk

Lockers: Lockers are available for Written, Photo and TV media;
1.Procedure
1) Fill in the Application Form;
2) Leave the copy of the Accreditation Card;
3) Get personal belongings before the closing of Media Workroom;
4) Return the key of locker to the Reception Desk
2.The Organizing Committee is not responsible for the safety of any personal belongs overnight.
3.No flammable, explosive and rotten things are allowed to put in the lockers.

Press Conference Room
The Press Conference Room is located on the second floor of Media Centre, with the seat capacity of 120. Press conference will be held by the Organizing Committee. The schedule of press conferences will be posted on bulletin boards and broadcasted in advance.

Media Boat
On the fleet arrival day, In-port and Pro-AM port race day and ceremony day, the Organizing Committee will provide different kinds of media boats with 120 positions in total for the Written, Photo and TV media. The photo positions will be arranged according to the space for the award ceremony and media are welcome with official invitation to the ceremonies.
One day ahead is needed to book a media boat on a FCFS (first-come, first-served) basis.

Media Cafeteria
Media Cafeteria is located on the -1 floor of Media Centre. Media can buy meal tickets at the Media Cafeteria for lunch.

Media Transportation Service
Golf carts are available in venues.
Accreditation
Media should visit the official website www.volvooceanrace.org for accreditation and go to the Accreditation Center on the 2nd Floor of Media Center to get the card. If the card is damaged or lost, necessary process should be followed before getting a new accreditation card.
